Last night Mike made pork chops for dinner. He marinated them with brown sugar and honey and then grilled them on the foreman grill. They were yummy!
As we are eating, Blake said, "More please."
Me: "More what?"
Me: "We don't have chicken."
Blake: "What is it then? Rooster?"
At school I have a student whose mom died last year. He talks about it on occasion. One day he was talking about it and another kid said, "My gramma died."
Me: "She did?"
K: "I don't know. Last year."
Me: "Oh, that's sad."
K: "Yeah, she went to bed and when she woke up she was dead."
A few years ago I was talking with some of my students (remember these are preschool kids):
R: "My dad and his girlfriend went on a date."
Me: "They did? What did they do on their date?"
R: "I don't know. Probably went to a movie."
Me: "Oh. That would be fun."
Another student: "My dad has a girlfriend."
Me: "He does? I didn't know that. What's her name?"
H: "I don't know."
Me: "You don't know your dad's girlfriend's name?"
H: "No. He keeps her in the closet."
Me: "In the closet?!"
H: "Yeah. He blows her up sometimes."
(This one nearly sent me over the edge! I am quite certain her dad would have been MORTIFIED if he knew she had told me about his blow up doll!!)
Last year we were looking at magazines in school. I had some teacher supply catalogues and the kids love looking at them. One of the kids said, "My dad reads magazines."
Me: "He does?"
A: "Yeah. When he's pooping he takes magazines in the bathroom with him."
Me: "I am sure your Daddy would love that you shared that with us."
Walking in Home Depot with Blake looking for Mike and Blake says to a man walking past us, "Hi. We are looking for my Daddy. Have you seen a tall man with a bald head?"
I thought that man was going to choke!
Have a wonderful weekend, Y'all :)
