Color Tour 2008

My BFF Shelley and I have been doing annual color tours for several years now. Sometimes it is just us... most times I have Blake with me (which is becoming a pain in the booty now that he's getting older and doesn't just fall asleep in the car!)

This year we started out at her place (on the underside of the thumb of Michigan) and drove up around the tip of the thumb. We drove along the shores of Lake Huron. The colors weren't all that great... a lot of yellows with a few splashes of red and orange... so I didn't get any pics of the trees.

But here are a few I did take:

That's the route we took (and the "you are here" pointer). We started in Marine City, went up to the tip then down the center of the thumb and back to MC. It was about 200 miles or so overall.

A roadside park we stopped at. See the freighter? Shelley loves watching the freighters go by (she lives on the river).

Shell and Blake.

A cute little country store we stopped in for ice cream. This was in Grindstone City, MI. Yeah... by the time you say the name, you are through the town! LOL!!

Blake on the shore of Lake Huron. We walked all the way out to the end of that pier to the right... we figured it was probably a full mile out and back.
