Our traumatic Wed night...

I can't believe I didn't blog about this! Sheesh!

Wed night at about 10:30 ish.. Dolly wanted out. I put her out and she was out for a few minutes and then she was barking her fool head off! So Mike called her inside... and she didn't want to come.. but finally he got her in. She came and laid down by me at the computer.

At around 11:00 I called her up on my lap. She jumped up and laid down on my lap and then I swiveled my chair and she let out a yelp! I couldn't figure out what had happened and figured maybe I pinched her leg between my leg and the arm of the chair.

After a few more minutes she started to shake and when I went to hold her up to see what was wrong she yelped again! I took her to Mike and he looked at her and said she was fine. I went back to the computer and she just kept acting worse and worse. Her legs were stiffening up and she was breathing heavy. We took her outside thinking maybe she had to poop.... she wouldn't even walk! She stood there looking at me with her tail down (her tail being down is a RARE occurance). When she did attempt to walk it was a very stiff, obviously painful gait :(

We took her back in and she was sitting on Mike's chest and shaking. Then he gave her to me and she was shaking and whining and her whole body would stiffen every few seconds! I thought she was dying!

Mike called the vet at about 11:45 and the vet said to bring her in to the emergency clinic. OY! So he took her in and they did xrays and found she has a pinched nerve in her back :( The vet gave her a shot of cortizone and some pain meds.

We have to give her pain meds once a day and keep her basically on "bed rest" for TWO WEEKS!!!

For those of you who DON'T know (yeah.. all 2 of you who even READ this blog) Dolly is a 16 month old bundle of energy!

It's going to be a looooong 2 weeks. *sigh*
